Storage has not progressed as fast or as far as server infrastructure, where servers and applications can readily benefit from virtualization. By employing advanced storage virtualization, a new EVA Product, the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array Cluster (EVA Cluster), raises virtualization to a new level. EVAs virtualize disk groups and LUNs and allows LUNs to be any Vraid type, thereby improving the efficiency and the ease of use over a traditional array.
The EVA Cluster goes further and allows customers to significantly improve efficiency, improve performance, improve availability, and simplify operations over individual EVAs or traditional arrays. The EVA Cluster improves storage efficiency by pooling the storage resources at a subsystem level. By pooling storage resources, the EVA Cluster helps eliminate stranded storage by making all storage in the cluster available to any application. So, disks do not have to go unused because they are not assigned to a particular application.
